What an interesting month it has been…we have had rain nearly every single day. So much rain…and I didn’t think I would ever say that with a frustrated tone but all that rain after the cold snap has created some issues with mildew and aphids but so far my garden is doing well.

I honestly think my biggest challenge in my garden besides the terrible freeze in April, are borers. They continue to plague my garden (mostly the hydrangeas) and it’s exhausting trying to fight them naturally…which of course I will keep doing but they really do cause damage. When I see their sawdust underneath any of my plants I immediately feel sick to my stomach. There must be some way to prevent them but the methods I have tried so far…don’t seem to be working, at least not the way I wish they would.

On to more positive topics! The garden really is filling in wonderfully…though I replaced two hydrangeas (long story about Andrew setting roots on fire when trying to burn weeds) so it remains uneven…to be honest though, I don’t mind when I need to replace something…I kind of get excited about it. I don’t think I ever want to be finished and from what I’ve learned so far, you never really are. So needless to say, there’s still much to be done and I am doing my best to manage it all.

Andrew tells me he doesn’t know how I do it because we are both so exhausted from raising our wee one…and I admit getting out of bed at 6 am on a Sunday to go work in my garden takes a lot of mental pushing but once I am out there and absorbed in my tasks, I am happy. I am fulfilled in a way that I can not describe but it’s something I need to start the week right…I call it my garden worship…time with my thoughts, and with God.

Our honeybees are doing wonderfully! We’ve actually had to create another hive we have so many, so now we have 3 hives. I remember when it was so exciting to see a bee in my garden so I would quickly try to snap a picture…now they are everywhere that I have to be careful not to step on them. That’s how it should be and hopefully one day, it will be again. I try not to post too many pictures…so here are some current shots of my garden.
